Course Title: Social Media in the Classroom

Social Media is ever popular and it is a great way for getting your class involved in ICT. This ‘Training short’ looks at the different types of social media that are available and how they can be used in the classroom. It also looks into the eSafety aspects of social media and the things teachers should consider before allowing students to post.

Objectives.

At the end of the session delegates will

  • Understand what social media is
  • Know what twitter is and how it can be used in a classroom
  • Know how to create a Twitter account for the class
  • Know what Youtube is
  • Know how to publish on Youtube
  • Know about Facebook
  • Know how to create and manage their own class Facebook page
  • Know about Google+
  • Know how to create and manage a Google+ account
  • Understand the eSafety considerations for social media

As this is a practical training session the delegates will get a chance to create their own social media profiles.

We ask that delegates bring their own laptop or iPad for the event.
